TYLER "The Tyrant!"

Wed Nov 16, 2011 10:39 AM EST
By WintropeMerrideth, The III
Advertise | AdChoices

It is my view that Newsvine.com needs to fire Tyler for his cruel, misguided and prejudicial handing of his duties as Code of Honor enforcer.  He target contributors that he disagrees with, berate them, bans those he dislike and let his "favorites" commit the very same infractions that he accuses those he banishes.

Newsvine prides itself for it community input, but when that input is contrary to the leadership's juvenile prejudices . . . it strike out from behind the veil of MSNBC and shatters those who seek to find an alternative voice.

Who is this TYLER AND WHY DOES HE HAVE SO MUCH UNCHECKED POWER?

It's been nice knowing you, NG. Hate to lose a vine friend to the old "ban stick" but I wouldn't be surprised. Or at the least, I'll see ya in a month, lol.

A "satire" tag and/or adding the word "opinion" at the end of the article title would be a good idea just for @!$%#s and giggles.

Ooops, my bad. I meant to comment to NG -and- to the writer and just totally lost track .....LOL

Note to self: do not talk on phone and type comment at same time.

NG: Yes, there will be a smack down! It will be loud and horrible.

Wintro: Add an "opinion" at the end of your title and a "satire" tag. Just to cover your bases...not that that will help much.

Heya. I'm the Director of Community here. This is my introductory article from 3 years ago.

I try to enforce the rules consistently and fairly with my homegirl Sally. A lot of people disagree with the rules/our enforcement/some combination of the two. However, I don't find your critique to be very compelling.

Also, your headline kind of violates #1 of the CoH:

Above all else, respect others.

I'm a Viner, too [which is why I bristle mildly at you saying I 'berate' other users. I take great care to not attack anyone personally.]

Only two?? All 'good' trolls have atleast four personalities, it appears. :) That way if one gets banned, they can fall back on the other three they established early on. lol

I do believe that Tyler and Sally want to be 'fair,' not preferential to 'sides.' It would seem that the proper context would be difficult to catch in 'every' comment, leaving the 'baiter' to go free instead of receiving equal punishment. ...I guess that's what happens in real-life, as well; many of us might exceed the speed limit sometimes - but only a few of us get caught.

This guy has been a NV member for 2 months.

He doesn't seem to have a clue how the site is run or what the CoH is all about, and this "article" reflects that.

He also didn't respond to not one comment made on this article, maybe because he doesn't know how to.

Seems a whole lot of to do about nothing to me for criticism offered by a NV novice!

But Sally? Folks criticize her, of course as is their wont, but those people have never met her. Period. Same for Tyler as well. I wish there were a way every single member could do a meet-n-greet with both of 'em. I really do. I get a charge every time I read the "criticisms", especially the ones from the political bent, from either side of the spectrum. I've yet to see one, from anyone, who I believe could substantiate their own favorite flavor of the month be credible, if they had the opportunity to sit down and met them, before they usually open mouths and insert feet.

And that said, I tend to think, for those who would still be so utterly "intractable", I daresay probably would have other Vine issues that would probably be better needing tending anyway, (usually long before Sally or Tyler get involved) by their own circumspection alone, not to mention getting themselves into their own hot water, usually boiled up by their own doing. Then Enter Sally and Tyler! LOL!

And I'll of course be bettin' dollars to good ol' fashioned donuts that's what we have here.

#4.29: But Sally? Folks criticize her, of course as is their wont, but those people have never met her. Period. Same for Tyler as well. I wish there were a way every single member could do a meet-n-greet with both of 'em. I really do.

Same here. They are both the dearest young folks it has ever been my pleasure to know. They do not wander the vine, willy-nilly, with a scatter-gun. Their jobs are to enforce the CoH and UA, and they do it darned well, considering the sheer volume of nastiness they are up against.

If they deserve anything, it is thanks from the entire Newsvine community, because they both understand what it means to have class. They have it. In spades.

Oh, yeah, before I forget: they are both very literate. I am always amazed that there are those few who can barely spell words of a single syllable who nonetheless feel free to cast aspersions on others. I'm not particularly religious, but isn't there a thing about "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?"

I hope this "article" is allowed to stand, if only because the contrast between complainer and enforcers is so sharp!

Actually, if people would fear and respect the CoH and UA, then they'd have nothing to fear from Sally and Tyler, who have an utterly thankless job but who do it well, given the circumstances.

As for the blue flames, well... they're both quite athletic, but not even they can do that. At least, not that I have witnessed.

You're kidding right? There have been more than a few past articles about the moderation styles of the "official" mods of the vine with a plethora of examples linked in them. You've even commented on them yourself, if I recall correctly.

You've been around long enough to remember them.

All I said is there have been more than a few articles done on this topic already and you are well aware of it. So to ask:

Got any links to back this up?

is kind of silly since you have been on those articles yourself. Go read them, view the links on them. There you will find more than enough "links to back this up" to your little heart's desire.

I'll show you why they're not.

And...of course you'll discredit any and all links showing blatant unfair moderation because usually that moderation tends to flow towards a particular side of the vine. A side which...as it just so happens....is opposite of your own views, so it's not going to surprise me, or several others, at all for you to praise certain moderations with cheers and applause galore.

I've no intention of getting into a silly back and forth with you because we BOTH know of what prior articles I speak.

But I seldom eat even half the goodies - can't be greedy - those are for Their Majesties Tyler & Sally.

And this is an absolutely delightful party! I know I'm enjoying myself quite thoroughly.

IMO Tyler and Sally are lenient when it comes to posters. I have been told on occasion to tone it down, had posts deleted and then suspended for a day. Was it far? Probably. Can you imagine what this forum would be if they just let people say anything, to anyone? It would be great if all of us would self-regulate but as we can all see we do not. We react, and say things that are stupid and unthinking. But to have the job Tyler has and to deal with all the different personalities and people, I say GOOD JOB Tyler. To deal with all the rogue Re-Regs would drive me up the wall.

Yep. My grandson and I watched those together and I thought I was going to die laughing. We were both howling. Joke after joke after joke, pft, pft, pft. I love South Park.

Especially the one where they couldn't get Tom Cruise to come out of the closet. I am laughing just thinking about it. I like the goo backs, Starvin' Marvin, Kenny and Butters.

Poor Tyler. Sally is going to hound him for months.

Tyler is going to have to take Sally out to lunch as a bribe to get her to stop talkin' smack.

"What kind of wine would you like with lunch?", asks Tyler.

"Oh, I don't know, my powered up buddy Tyler, just as long as it is the most expensive thing on the wine list," she replies.

We has an article put up, a couple of years ago I think, that belonged to a new guy. The whole article consisted of "This is my first article." It became a playground and went on for hundreds of comments, and we never saw him again. It was fun, much like this one.

Those were fun, belle. Calvin's personality was great because he was flexible, yet serious when he needed to be with those type of articles. He truly seemed to be all about wanting to make things work for a wide variety of personalities and interests.

What you wanna do
Do you feel for me
The way I feel for you
Checka Khan
Let me tell you what I wanna do
I wanna love you
Wanna hug you
Wanna squeeze you too
Let me take you in my arms
Let me fill you with my charms
Checka
'Cause you know that I'm the one
To keep you warm, Checka
I'll make it more than just a physical dream
I wanna rock you, Checka, baby
'Cuz you make me wanna scream
Let me rock you
Rock you
